The Top 3 Aesthetic Trends Of 2021

2020 saw the enforced closure of aesthetic clinics nationwide. For some people, this prompted a resurgence in home skincare routines, many of which are still maintained today. However, despite our considerable efforts to keep the effects of ageing at bay, our Zoom screens broadcast a daily reminder of our facial imperfections. Facing the digital depictions of our appearance for such prolonged periods has left us craving the cosmetic results that only in-clinic treatments can provide.  Aesthetic procedures are no longer reserved for the financial elite and, for many, are now as routine as haircuts and dental appointments. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures are on the rise, but which treatments have become the most popular and why? Let’s take a look at the top 3 aesthetic trends of 2021 at North West Aesthetics.

Trending Aesthetics Treatments

Aesthetic trends 2021: Chemical Peels

Skin Peels date back as far as Ancient Egypt, where women would anoint their skin with soured milk that contained rejuvenating lactic acid. Since then, our obsession with bright, youthful-looking complexions has fuelled decades worth of research into skin-nourishing ingredients and treatment methodology. The number of Chemical Peels undertaken in recent years has increased and this is forecast to rise worldwide between 2021 and 2031.

The Obagi® Blue Peel and the Perfect Peel have been popular choices at North West Aesthetics this year. The Blue Peel contains trichloroacetic acid, which penetrates the skin slowly. This allows the practitioner to control the depth of the peel and customise the treatment based on the client’s individual skin needs. The peel removes the superficial layers of the skin, stimulating the production of new, healthy epidermal cells. This results in gradual skin tightening and a reduction in pigmentation and age spots.

The Perfect Peel is slightly lighter than the Obagi® treatment, which minimises downtime. It is the only skin peel that contains glutathione, a substance involved in tissue building and repair. The peel is suitable for all skin types, smoothes away fine lines and reduces pigmentation and inflammation.

Aesthetic trends 2021: Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

According to The American Society Of Plastic Surgeons, nose reshaping was the third most popular aesthetic treatment in 2017, however, surgical rhinoplasty procedures had decreased by 2% when compared to the previous year. It is probable that this is due, in part, to the rise in its non-surgical alternative, commonly referred to as the Liquid Nose Job.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty uses targeted Dermal Filler injections to adjust the size and shape of your nose, correcting unwanted irregularities. The injections are hyaluronic acid-based, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and gives the skin volume and hydration. At a fraction of the cost of surgery and without the associated downtime, Liquid Nose Jobs provide an instant and affordable solution to the unsightly bumps and hooks that shape the nose.

Aesthetic trends 2021: Tear Trough Fillers

A global survey carried out by the International Society Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery found that Dermal Filler treatments increased by 50.6% between 2015 and 2019. Whilst Dermal Fillers remain a popular procedure for all facial areas, at North West Aesthetics we have noticed a distinct spike in Tear Trough treatments.

The dark circles that appear underneath the eyes are often thought to be caused by a lack of sleep. This is not always the case. As our collagen levels deplete with age, the skin loses volume, which can lead to the formation of hollows beneath the eyes. Shadows naturally develop where the skin dips, causing the dark circles we mistakenly associate with sleep deprivation.

Tear Trough Fillers plump up the skin around the eye and the orbital bone. This helps to eliminate dark circles and improves the appearance of tired eyes. Dermal Fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which increases the skin’s retention of water and stimulates the production of collagen. This leads to long-term anti-ageing benefits, despite the treatment being non-permanent.

Our Predictions For Autumn 2021

When we pack up our suitcases and travel abroad, we never leave home without sun lotion, yet many do not approach sun safety with the same level of gravity whilst in the UK. After a summer of staycations, we anticipate that sun-damaged skin will be a top contender for treatment in the coming autumn.

Laser Resurfacing and Chemical Peels offer effective treatment for sun spots and premature ageing. If your skin has been negatively impacted by the sun’s rays, don’t hesitate in booking a consultation at North West Aesthetics.
