Obagi Blue Peel

Is your skin plagued with the effects of premature ageing, sun damage, and other common concerns? From wrinkles and fine lines, to uneven pigmentation and age spots, it can be very difficult and time-consuming to find a solution that works for you, especially with such a saturated skincare market. Obagi skincare is a trusted name that is widely recognised and renowned by patients and professionals alike, offering both skincare products and chemical face peels. Here at North West Aesthetics, we are thrilled to be able to offer the Obagi range of products and treatments. Of the two chemical peels we offer, the main ingredient in each is also the main difference between them. The main ingredient in the Obagi Blue Peel is trichloroacetic acid, which offers more traditional skincare results through slow penetration, as opposed to the exfoliating effects of the Obagi Radiance Peel. Your consultation at the NWA Clinic is crucial for determining which of the two peels is best suited for your skin concerns, which is why it is important to be open about your needs and expectations.

If Obagi Blue Peel is determined the best treatment for you, it is imperative that you have 6 weeks skin preparation with the Obagi Nuderm system before treatment. This is because we need to get the melanocytes under control pre-treatment, otherwise you will be at risk of hyper/hypo pigmentation.

Frequently asked questions

Your aesthetician will cleanse your skin before applying a predetermined number of coats in order to meet your needs, leaving the peel to take affect and then removing it afterwards. Within 3 days and for up to a week, you can then expect peeling to occur.

You will notice a more youthful, healthy appearance to your skin over the course of a few weeks post-treatment after the damaged skin has peeled. Skin will be smoother, clearer and tighter.

Depending on the number of coats you require, your treatment should last no longer than 45 minutes. You will be given topical anaesthesia pre-peel.

Again, this depends on the severity of your skin concerns. Some can be treated with just one treatment, whereas others might warrant a number of skin peels at regular intervals.

As your skin peels post-treatment, it can be rather unsightly; your skin may appear to be blue in colour, and you may need to take a couple of weeks off work. The reason you appear “blue”, is that this colouring indicates to the practitioner the correct depth of your peel

Redness and peeling are obviously guaranteed after your chemical peel, with minor pain and irritation in some cases. Patients may suffer an allergic reaction, but this is very rare.

Your suitability for this type of chemical peel will be determined during your consultation at the North West Aesthetics clinic, but Obagi advanced skincare is versatile in its ability to treat a range of skin types and concerns. In most cases, if you suffer with any of the symptoms mentioned above, this peel would likely be beneficial to you.

At North West Aesthetics, our friendly and attentive team prioritise your wants and needs, offering bespoke treatment plans that work specifically for you. We take the time to get to the bottom of your concerns via a thorough consultation, before then considering the best possible course of action. A high standard of treatment and care is imperative, which is why our staff are extensively trained and experienced in all aspects of advanced non-surgical aesthetics, led by renowned medical doctor, Dr David Taylor.
