Dermal Fillers – Corners of the Mouth

Dermal fillers are the perfect treatment for lifting sad-looking downturned mouth corners, with subtle, yet effective, natural-looking results. As we age, our skin loses essential elasticity and volume as a result of diminishing collagen and elastin levels. This loss of volume can give the appearance of an unhappy expression as the corners of the mouth appear pulled down, causing unsightly marionette lines to occur.

While there is nothing that can be done to prevent the signs of ageing within the skin, dermal fillers do offer a minimally-invasive solution. The versatility of this safe injectable treatment allows its use throughout the face to effectively reverse the signs of ageing, including wrinkles, fine lines and sagging. Not only do our hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers fill out wrinkles, enhance shape and restore lost volume, but they also boost the production of collagen and elastin within the skin for a more youthful, radiant appearance overall.

Botox is also another alternative non-surgical procedure to treat lines around the corners of the mouth.

Frequently asked questions

This comes down to the severity of your marionette lines and the shape of your mouth, with more filler needed for some patients than others. This has an effect on the price, as well as the size of the treatment area, but you can expect to pay a price of around £130-£200 for this type of filler treatment. Once you attend our clinic for your consultation, an exact cost will be determined.

Your NWA doctor or practitioner will first devise a bespoke treatment plan to suit your needs specifically, before then applying dermal fillers into highly targeted areas of your face to see the best possible results. The fillers are injected just beneath the surface of the skin to plump the surrounding tissues. As a naturally-occurring bodily substance, the hyaluronic acid in the fillers we use is what stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin and minimises the risk of rejection or reaction from your body.

Dermal fillers offer exciting anti-ageing results almost instantly. As your skin heals and the fillers settle, you will see your best results at around 2 weeks post-treatment. Unsightly lines and wrinkles will appear softened, with added shape and volume to the lips for a more youthful appearance.

Providing enough time is set aside for a thorough consultation and treatment, you should expect to have to take no more than 30 minutes out of your day.

Our experts are capable of achieving the desired results after just one treatment session, although do remember that your results are only temporary. They begin to wear off at about 9-12 months post-treatment, after which you will require repeat treatments to maintain your results. The fillers can last longer with each new treatment.

You can return to your day-to-day business as soon as you leave our clinic, allowing your mouth to heal without the need for downtime. Just be sure not to agitate the affected area as your fillers settle and your skin heals.

Most patients experience various side effects, although none of which are a cause for concern. These include swelling, redness and bruising, all of which will gradually subside over the course of a few days post-treatment. Should you have any immediate concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch.

If you notice the corners of your mouth looking as though they are being pulled down as a result of premature ageing, get in touch with the NWA team as dermal fillers might just be the answer you've been looking for. With that said, pregnant and breastfeeding women are unable to seek this type of treatment due to safety precautions.
