Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is perfect for bringing a new lease of life to areas of skin that are looking damaged, aged, blotchy or scarred. Laser skin resurfacing takes advantage of precision tools that help to remove the outer layers of skin, layer by layer, to help promote a regeneration process of skin cells – leaving your skin looking fresh, healthy, bright and smooth.

Although commonly used for the face, at North West Aesthetics we’re able to use laser skin resurfacing to treat different areas of the body. Laser skin resurfacing is particularly useful for reducing the visibility of stretch marks. Get in touch with us today to book your free consultation at our clinic in Wigan.

Frequently asked questions

The costs for laser skin resurfacing can vary. This will depend on the area being covered in treatment. For example, a treatment that covers the whole arm will cost considerably more than a treatment covering a single hand. The number of repeat treatments needed to rejuvenate more troubled areas may incur more fees. The costs will be discussed in your free consultation.

Thermal energy is applied to the problem areas through a precision device which enables the practitioner to accurately treat the correct areas. The thermal energy destroys the cells in question and allows the area to regenerate skin cells, leaving the treated area brighter, smoother and fuller.

Once the skin has healed following treatment, you can expect to see the skin form a brighter, smoother and overall healthier looking appearance. The laser treatment should reduce the visibility of any scars, wrinkles and lines. The treatment may also help balance the colour of the skin if pigmentation issues exist.

The length of the procedure can vary depending on the size and severity of the problem in question. A larger surface area will take longer to cover than a small problem area. Typically, a treatment will take around 20-60 minutes.

The number of treatments required will depend on the severity of the condition present. This will be discussed during an initial consultation with Dr David Taylor, giving you an idea of how much time will be needed to complete a successful treatment. Usually a course of 4-6 treatments with 2-3 week breaks will be needed to see a significant difference.

There is limited downtime associated with laser skin resurfacing. Once your treatment is complete, you’ll be back on your feet to resume your daily activities straight away. The only requirement is that you take extra care of your skin whilst it recovers by keeping it clean and protected from the sun.

There are no known side effects for laser skin resurfacing. Following the treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling and soreness, although this will subside after a few days as long as the skin is well looked after.

Almost everyone is suitable for laser skin resurfacing. However, your condition may not be! In an initial consultation, Dr Taylor will advise you of the best course of action. If you suffer from stretch marks on the body, laser skin resurfacing will be one of the recommended treatments due to its effectiveness in reducing its visibility.
