The First Signs of Ageing

The First Signs of Ageing

What they are and what to do!

Those pesky first signs of ageing can appear as early as your 20s. From fine lines to wrinkles, our skin shows all of the stress the years can impose on us, influenced by factors such as facial animation and sun damage.

Without proper protection over the years, our skin will appear more aged and wrinkled. When you first notice a wrinkle on your skin, it can often come as a shock! Or perhaps you may not even notice these until you have a few. Don’t be alarmed! We have a few tips and treatments to help you to age gracefully!

Signs of ageing

From an early age, we are taught to protect ourselves from the sun’s rays when we are on holiday. What we don’t find out until later is that any exposure to the sun’s rays is strong enough to cause damage, meaning that a lot of the damage we see cropping up on our skin is sun damage (freckles or hyperpigmentation).

When putting on your makeup, you may notice that your foundation is settling into cracks that you’ve never seen before! Fine lines can appear below the eyes or in any other area as the amount of collagen our bodies produce decreases over time.

Dry skin is a tell-tale sign of ageing. With everything determined to remove moisture from our skin (hot temperatures, cold temperatures, wind, central heating, air conditioning), hydration is so important for keeping our skin looking smooth and wrinkle-free.

Tips for your skin

Always use a foundation or concealer with at least SPF 15 in to help protect your skin from further sun damage. Using a range of products with skin-safe ingredients such as vitamins and minerals helps keep your skin healthy and protected.

By using a decent primer and under-eye creams and products, you can help prevent the fine lines and wrinkles already present on your skin from worsening.

Investing in a good moisturiser is always important for your skin health. Dryness can cause the fine lines and wrinkles on your skin to look even more prominent! Hydration is key for keeping your skin looking soft and smooth.
