The Dermaroller may be the solution for your stretch marks

Stretch marks can occur for many different reasons, but commonly occur when there is a rapid period of weight gain and growth, such as in puberty or pregnancy. For years, women have tried all sorts of solutions to rid their skin of the unwanted scarring, with the most common being lotions, creams, and oils. Despite what they say on the bottle, no cream, oil, or salve has been proven to prevent or treat stretch marks. Stretch marks occur deep within the skin where topical moisturisers cannot reach.

While stretch marks aren’t harmful to your health, they can cause you to feel uncomfortable with your appearance, especially in swimwear and shorts this summer. You don’t have to feel insecure in your skin: at North West Aesthetics we offer Dermaroller Treatments for Stretch Marks to reduce the scarring on the stomach, thighs, breasts and buttocks for smooth, clear, and rejuvenated skin.

The Dermaroller Treatment Procedure

The Dermaroller is a handheld device with a roller head covered in micro surgical steel needles. The device is rolled across the skin making hundreds of tiny punctures, breaking up damaged skin cells initiating the skin’s natural healing process. The micro injuries stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in clear, radiant skin through natural mechanisms.

While many have a great fear of needles, you’ll be reassured knowing that the treatment is minimally invasive and requires no down time. The skin around your treatment area will most likely appear slightly red and swollen, as well as more sensitive than it usually is, although this will subside in no time at all. Although the time is variable depending on the size of the treatment area, most derma rolling procedure takes 30 minutes on average. While results can be visible after just one treatment, most patients find the best results from 2-5 treatments.

Aftercare

You may notice skin irritation and redness for a few days following your procedure. As your skin is more sensitive, make sure to protect it from the sun with SPF and clothing. Use gentle products on your skin after the procedure to avoid irritation. At your consultation, we will inform you of all aftercare procedures necessary.
